Lüneburger: Germans know best

The Germans do a few things very well. Beer, cars, football and most importantly bread (well, after beer of course). While the Macquarie Centre is short on German bars there is a German bakery: Lüneburger. Aside from serving up delicious sweets (think apple strudel or cherry crumble) and tasty loafs Lüneburger also does sandwiches. As we know, after 12 years of schooling, sandwiches are the cornerstone of a good lunch. But in saying this, I am always a bit unsettled about spending $10 on a sandwich -- it doesn't seem fair. For $5 Lüneburger have a great selection of sandwiches. I chose the salami and pesto which consisted of salami, tasty cheese, cucumber, tomato, lettuce and pesto all encased in a seeded rye roll. At $5 it's great value but also super tasty. The thing that was great was that aside from the bread being deliciously German the ratio between the bread and the other ingredients was what it should be -- perfectly balanced; not too much bread, nor too little filling. At the end of the day it is just a sandwich but one you will no doubt buy again, and again.
